Wiggle Wednesday

smileyHello everyone. Let us start today with a few songs-

do you have any favourite songs? How about:

  • Wind the bobbin up or
  • Row, row, row your boat or
  • Miss Polly had a dolly or
  • Tommy Thumb, Tommy Thumb, where are you?

Tell your child: "Today is WWWWWednesday and today we wwwwiggle. It's Wiggle Wednesday."

Today you can wiggle and dance to any music you like. Put on the radio or a music channel on the tv and have a wiggle and dance to the music you hear. Remember to move slowly to slower music and move faster when the music is faster. Have fun and try to get lots of your family to join in.heart

Mini Maths

Nursery Rhyme - 1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive

.

Sing along to the number song, saying the numbers as they appear.

Make it a bit easier- sing along to the song, taking notice to numerals 1 2 3

Challenge- use your 'Busy Book' to write some of the numerals.

Parents or older siblings write numbers 1 2 3 4 5 using a pale colour.

Ask child to over-write or copy underneath, depending on their pencil skills and confidence.

Fun Task:

If you have toy fish, put them in the bath and try to catch them with a ladle or slotted spoon.

If you don't have toy fish, you could use slices of uncooked carrot or potato instead!!!How many 'fish' can you catch in one go? How many altogether?

Language and Literacy/ Storytime

The story today is 'The Rainbow Fish', which is one of my favourites.

It is a long story, with lots of details, so it would be helpful if an adult or older brother/sister could watch and pause the story at intervals, to talk about the characters and discuss what is happening.

Get ready to answer the questions below?

The Rainbow Fish (HQ)

  • Where does the Rainbow Fish live?
  • Who did the Rainbow Fish meet in the story?
  • What did the Barracuda do?
  • What did the Wise Octopus tell the Rainbow Fish to do?
  • How did the Rainbow Fish feel at the end of the story? Why?
