Phonics Time

If your child is confident recognising all of the set 1 sounds, and can read words such as ship, king, bat, and clap, without any support, then click on the set 2 sounds icon.

Chat on the Mat Time
Let's start today's Chat on the Mat activity with a quizblush, tell a grown up the answers.

 

1. Name 3 sea creatures.

2. I have 2 sharp claws called pincers. I walk sideways on sand. What am I?

3. What does a sea turtle start off as, in the nest?

4. What happens once the sea turtle eggs have hatched?

 

Super!   Now, let's play a rhyming gamelaugh. Your challenge is to think of words that rhyme with 'under the sea' words, and write them in a list. We have done the first one for you, to show you what to dowink

Remember, rhyming words are words that sound the same.

Maths Time
Let's start today's Maths activity by counting in 10's, all the way to 100laugh.

Fantastic counting!   Today, we are going to practise your sharing skills, so switch your Maths brains onlaugh. Your going to share a given amount of caterpillars between two leaves. We have done the first one for you, to show you what to doyes

 

Look at the picture below, there are 4 caterpillars. So, we need to share the 4 caterpillars between the two leaves, like this:

 

 

Then, we count how many caterpillars are on each leaf. "1, 2"    "1, 2". This means half of 4 is 2blush

 

Now, its your turnlaugh. Remember, we say "one for you, one for you" and we share to make it fair!
Complete this activity in your busy books, by drawing the leaves and caterpillars.

Top Tip: Draw the given amount of caterpillars first. Then, each time you draw a caterpillar on a leaf, cross out one of the caterpillars, this will help you work out how many caterpillars you have leftwink.
