Maths Time
Let's start today's Maths activity by playing a game of 'guess the number' laugh.

 

1. Miss Dodgson is thinking of a number that is one more than 8. What number is she thinking of?

2. Mr Kirkbride is thinking of a number that is one more than 11. What number is he thinking of?

3. Miss Dodgson is thinking of a number that is one less than 6. What number is she thinking of?

4. Mr Kirkbride is thinking of a number that is one less than 10. What number is he thinking of?

 

Fantastic!   Today, we are going to practice our doubling skills, so switch your doubling brains onwink. We are going to play double dominoesyes. We have done the first one for you, to show you what to do.

 

There are 2 spots on the domino below, so we need to double 2, like this:

 

 

Then, we count how many spots altogether "1, 2, 3, 4". So, double 2 is 4.
The sum for this would be 2 + 2 = 4blush.
