Good morning everybody.

It looks like today is going to be a warm and sunny day.

Coronavirus and the lockdown is causing lots of worry and anxiety for adults and for many children too.

It is a strange and difficult time and it must be incredibly confusing for children if they don't understand why they have to stay at home and can't meet up with family and friends.

It is important that we give children time to talk about their feelings/ worries about what is happening in the world at the moment.

Watch the clip below as Dr Ranj, from CBeebies, explains the coronavirus in a very simple way:

Ask your child to tell you some of the things that Dr Ranj said.

You may need to prompt/ encourage them eg.

• "Why can't Jobi go to school?"
• "What fun things did Jobi say he has been doing at home?"
• "Will school be closed forever?"
• "What did  Dr Ranj and Jobi sing about?"

Explain to children

• everyone is feeling lots of emotions at this time: sometimes happy, sad, angry, confused, worried.
• we can manage our feelings when we share them with others.
• it is o.k. to feel the way we do as all feelings are important.
• talking helps to calm feelings.  

Today is 'Wiggle Wednesday'.

Today you are going to be a 'number detective' and look around your house for all the different places you can find numbers:

Point to the numbers on the tv remote as you say the number names:

"1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9"

Next, play 'Find the Number',

• where parent says the number name and child points to the correct numeral
• where child says the number name and adult points to the correct numeral
