Parental conflict questionnaire

Dear Parents/ Carers,

My name is Michelle Lea, and I am the Healthy Relationships Co-ordinator for Liverpool. My role is to coordinate the development and implementation of the healthy relationships, reducing parental conflict across Liverpool for professionals, volunteers and families.

The Reducing Parental Conflict Programme is being implemented locally and nationally and aims to promote improved outcomes for children, young people and their Families and is funded by the DWP.

It is normal for parents/carers to argue/ disagree but there is compelling evidence that conflict between parents/carers – whether together or separated – can have a negative impact on children’s mental health and long-term life chances. We know that not all conflict is damaging, but where this is frequent, intense, and poorly it can have a negative impact on both the parents/ carers and their children.

As part of my role, I am responsible to develop and deliver training to professionals and parents/carers highlighting stressors/triggers that cause conflict in families such as money issues, household roles and responsibilities and even the birth of a child.

I would like to hear the voices of the parents/carers in Liverpool to help me understand what the stressors/triggers are for our local families and how organisations in Liverpool can, better support families experiencing “parental conflict.”

All the information provided by you in this questionnaire will be used for research purposes. Your personal details will not be shared with any other agency unless you wish to be contacted and give consent.

Kind Regards

It is normal for parents/carers to argue but where arguments are frequent, heated, and unresolved it can have a negative impact on both the parents and their children.  We call this state of affairs “parental conflict”.

Liverpool City Councils Healthy Relationship Coordinator Michelle Lea would like to hear the voices of the parents/carers of Liverpool families to help her understand how organisations in Liverpool can better support families experiencing “parental conflict”.
