Good morning everyone
I hope you had a good weekend and were able to go outside in the sunshine.
This week we are going to be talking about 'Feelings' and give children the opportunity to talk about how they feeling about staying at home and missing doing their usual things such as playing with friends, seeing family, going to school etc.
Let's start the week with a few songs. Remember to sing together. Singing is good for you as it releases positive hormones that relieve stress and anxiety.
Language and Literacy
Ask your child to name as many of the animals they can remember from the song, 'If you're happy and you know it'.
Write a list of the animals they suggest in their 'Busy Book'.
Next, suggest some alliterative describing words eg.
a messy ...... monkey
a pink ........ pig
shy .......... sheep
tall / tiny ..... turtle
Challenge- can you think of a name for each of the animals that begin with the correct letter sound eg. Tommy Turtle or Walter Wolf, etc.
Mini Maths
Get ready for another feel-good/ sing-along song.
This time we're going to use the song to focus on number: as the eggs hatch, the number of eggs decreases (explain to children, it is less) and the number of chicks increases ( explain to children, it is more).
Storytime
Share the story below, asking your child to remember a time when they were feeling angry, sad, happy, afraid.
WARNING- do not allow children to press SUBSCRIBE button at the end of the story.
Today is Make-it Monday.
Draw a feelings picture in your Busy Book inspired by the Colour Monster.
This can be anything you choose: you could draw the colour monster or explore the colours of the feelings from the story. Or you might draw a happy picture or a time when you were angry.
Challenge - try to help 'make' someone in your family feel happy today.
You could give them a hug, or tidy your toys or be kind and share with them
I hope you have a happy day
