Chat on the Mat Time
Let's start today's Chat on the Mat activity by telling a grown up the baby farm animals you can see.
As a challenge, can you tell your grown up where each farm animal lives on the farm?
Super learning! Let's finish today's activity with a farm quiz.
1. What is the name of a baby pig?
2. What is the name of a baby duck?
3. Where do horses live on a farm?
4. What food comes from hens?
5. Name 2 foods that grow on the farm.
Let's start today's maths activity by singing our favourite shape song. Click on the video below.
Super singing! Today, we are going to solve money problems. You will need your adding brains switched on, to help you find the answers. We will do the first one for you, to show you what to do.
"Jack went to the shop. He bought a packet of crisps and a drink. How much do they cost altogether?"
So, we need to add together 6p and 3p, to find the total cost. We will use a number line to help us find the answer. First, we circle the first number (6p), like this:
Then, we look at the second number (3p), and jump forwards this many spaces, like this:
The number it lands on, is the answer to the problem. So, 6p + 3p = 9p .
Now, its your turn, please complete this activity in your busy books.
Parents: draw the number line in your child's book to make the activity easier.
If your up for a super super challenge today, can you write the addition sum?
Spectacular Maths Reception!
Today's story is called 'Elmer and the Hippos'. The elephants aren’t happy: the hippos have come to share their river because their own has dried up. When they complain to Elmer that the river is over-crowded, everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant sets off to see if he can find a way to solve the problem. Click on the link below to listen to this fantastic story.
Super work everybody.
Take care and stay safe!
