At Lawrence, our teachers use oracy (the set of skills associated with speaking and listening) to:
Select the really useful vocabulary that is core to the topic
Teach the selected vocabulary in a structured manner by using symbols, phonology, semantics, sentence stems, actions, songs, working word walls and word pots
Activate the meaning by using the words in context in sentences
Review the taught words to ensure they are retained
