Good Morning Reception!
Today is the start of another school week.
It is Monday 8th June 2020.
Here are your busy work activities for today, enjoy.
If your child is confident recognising all of the set 1 sounds, and can read words such as ship, king, bat, and clap, without any support, then click on the set 2 sounds icon.
Now, it's PE Time. Let's start by warming up our bodies. Copy the actions to 'The Hokey Pokey' in the video below.
Now, with a grown-up, try the exercises on the cards below. Parents: Spend around 30 seconds on each movement and take a short break in between each activity.
Maths Time
Let's start today's Maths activity by telling a grown up the numbers you can see below.
2 7 0 9 15 20 11 8 13
Well Done! This week, at Maths Time, we are going to solve problems using our doubling and halving skills, but today, we will only need our doubling brains switched on. We will solve the first problem for you, to show you what to do. The first problem says "Jenny saw 3 ducks at the pond. Yesterday she saw double this amount. How many ducks did she see yesterday?".
First, we look for the number in the problem, and draw this amount of objects.
So, we will need to draw 3 ducks, like this:
Next, we need to double this amount. Remember, double means same/same - we add the same amount. So, we need to draw 3 more ducks, like this:
Then, we count how many ducks there are altogether, using our pointy finger.
So, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 - Jenny saw 6 ducks in the pond yesterday. The doubling sum would be 3+3=6.
Now, its your turn. As a challenge, write the doubling sum for each problem.
1. Adam had 2 sweeties. Jasmine had double this amount. How many sweeties did Jasmine have?
2. Fred made 4 cupcakes, but he needs to make double this amount for all of his friends. How many cupcakes does Fred need?
3. Olivia found 6 wiggly worms. Ben found double this amount. How many worms did Ben find?
4. Emma has 5 potatoes but she needs double for her recipe. How many potatoes does Emma need?
Super doubling!
Today's story is called 'Farmer Duck.' Farmer Duck lives on a farm with a very lazy farmer. He never does any of the work, so the poor duck has to do it all by himself. Until, he was just too tired to do it all on his own. What will his friends do to help him? Watch the video below to listen to today's fantastic story.
Wow! Great busy work today everybody.
Remember to keep safe and come back tomorrow for even more busy work!
