This week you are going to be learning the spelling rules for
dge ge and g which can all make the j sound.
In English the letter j is never used to end the spelling of a word, it is usually used before u, o or a.
So, when you hear the j sound you need to know that
after the short vowel sounds a,e,i,o,u we use: dge
but after any other sound we use ge
and before y,i or e we use: g.
c is tricky too because it also changes with y, i and e
and makes a s sound.
Watch the funny rap and song below to help you to remember this spelling
rule before you start the activities.
Some tasks will ask you look, cover, write and check.
