This week we are adding -ed  -er  -est to words ending in y with a consonant before it.

Consonants are the blue letters and vowels are the red letters.

Adding -ed to words ending in y 

Change the y to an i and add ed

Like this:

copy - copied

cry - cried

reply- replied

Now, in your busy book, try adding the suffix ed to these words:

Now use these words in your own sentences.

Tuesday

Adding -er to words ending in y

Change the y to an i and add er

Like this:

copy - copier

happy - happier

funny - funnier

Now, in your busy book, try adding the suffix ed to these words:

Read this sentence:

My big brother is funnier than my Dad.

Now use the words in sentences. Write the sentences in your busy book.

Wednesday

Adding -est to words ending in y

Change the y to an i and add est

Like this:

happy - happiest

funny - funniest

silly - silliest

Now, in your busy book, try adding the suffix est to these words:

heavy -

scary -

Read this sentence:

The silliest clown was the funniest clown.

Adding   ed   er   est  and   y   to words ending in  e

Remove the  e  and add the suffix

Thursday

Like this:

hike -  hiker, hiked

nice - nicer, nicest, 

dance- dancer, danced
