Romeo and Juliet;

Hamlet;

Macbeth.

William's Father was a successful leather merchant. Shakespere was the third of six children including two older sisters and three older brothers.

When William turned eighteen he fell in love with Anne Hathaway. Anna was eight years older than William (twenty-six). They both had children together twins called Hamnet and Judith, a daughter called Susanna.

Shakespeare wrote plays for the Lord Chamberleins men. His plays became very popular in London. This made Shakespeare a very wealthy man. William retired to his home in Stratford and died on his fifty-second birthday. He introduced 3000 words to the English language.

If it wasn't for his great acting, storytelling and writing he wouldn't be the great man the world know him as today.

Vampires Are My Neighbour !!!

Chapter 1

A new family has just moved in as our neighbour. They are kind of strange. They always wear a cape and black clothing, they only showed up at night and their skin is pale. I new at once that they were vampires! Or were they?! For a second, I stood there and thought what to do. I made a plan. That afternoon I invited the new family for lunch at my place (I was too scared to invite them at night in case they were real vampires !!!). In the family, there was a dad, a mum, a sister and a brother. They inspected the table. There was salad, sandwiches and… GARLIC!

Chapter 2

That’s right! There was garlic on the table! I know how much vampires hate garlic. I waited for a reaction from the family. It felt like everything just paused for a second. I went away so that they would do something. I watched very closely from a corner but I still couldn’t see anything! When I came back, every single dish was eaten! Even the garlic! The next day, I was trying to be brave and I went to ask them “Hi, this may sound weird but are you vampires?”. The dad vampire sighed and put his cold, pale vampire hand on my shoulder and said “Come inside and we’ll have a chat”. I hesitated and I was really scared but I went in.

Chapter 3

Inside, there were so many old photos! It wasn’t at all what imagined it to be. The mum vampire gave me tea and biscuits. “You’re right. We are real vampires. We won’t hurt anyone though! We aren’t like other vampires. We hate blood. And garlic isn’t so bad. It just smells. We were wondering if we could stay here as your neighbour Everyone’s so kind here! Not at all like Vampire land.” I was so relieved. I said “Of course you can stay! I’d love having you as a neighbour!”. “Thank you so much!”, said the dad vampire. “You can play with our children and we can have a chat with your parents whenever we meet!”. So, from that day on, we had vampire neighbours.

YEAR 5 GEOGRAPHY

Fossil fuels
Fossil fuels are fuels that come from very old life forms that decomposed over a long period of time. They are formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals, buried deep inside the Earth for millions of years. Over a long, long time, heat and pressure has turned these remains into the fossil fuels that we call coal, oil and natural gas. Fossil fuels are essentially the remains of plants of animals. They provide us with a source of non-renewable energy. Fossil fuels can either come in the form of oil, coal, or natural gas. They are the result of the decomposition of dead plant and animal matter buried deep in the Earth's crust. Fossil fuels produce a lot of pollution when burned. This can be reduced by making the combustion process more efficient, and by using various techniques to reduce the escape of harmful gases. This pollution is responsible for causing the earth to get warmer, called global warming.

Hydro electricity
Hydroelectricity is electricity made by generators that are pushed by movement of water. It is usually made with dams that block a river to make a reservoir or collect water that is pumped there. When the water is released, the pressure behind the dam forces the water down pipes that lead to a turbine. Hydroelectricity is electricity produced from hydro-power. In 2015, hydro-power generated 16.6% of the world's total electricity and 70% of all renewable electricity, and was expected to increase by about 3.1% each year for the next 25 years. 🌏🚰

William Shakespeare

by Hasanat (5LB)

William Shakespeare was born on 23rd April 1564.He was born in Stratford-Upon- Avon. He was the third child from John and Mary Shakespeare.

He married Anne Hathaway. They had 3 children - twins and a daughter. The daughter's name was Susanne and the twins were Hemlet and Judith.  Sadly Hemlet died when he was just 11 years old from bubonic plague (also known as a virus, a bad one).

William was a playwright and an actor. He left Stratford and went to London. William didn’t go back to Stratford not that much because on a horse it took four days to get there!

Did you know that William Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet?

William mostly wrote tragedies and comedies but he also enjoyed writing plays about feelings that people experienced such as: jealousy, anger, love, romance, religion and war.

William made up THREE HUNDRED words like: Hobnob and Wild goose chase.

Unfortunately, William died on 23rd of April which was on his birthday.

Every year, on the 23rd of April the streets of Stratford are filled with performers and music to celebrate and remember William Shakespeare.

Plastic Pollution

By Hasanat 5LB

Plastic is man - made. Everyone buys it because it is cheap. Plastic harms the environment; sea animals are injured and eventually die by swallowing the plastic waste made by human beings. Plastic is bad for our planet. Plastic is good, if you reuse it.

Here are a list of Plastic items:

  • slider
  • bottles
  • container

Plastic is bad because it hurts animals and if too much plastic enters the sea there will be more plastic then fish in the sea.

Plastic is strong and is waterproof.

To be honest we all use plastics and then throw it away. We have to reduce, reuse, and recycle. They are the three Rs.

It is difficult to stop using plastic because nearly everything is made out of plastic. Most plastics are made from chemicals. Plastic can rot out after a long time, however it causes many problems to our planet.

Instead of using plastic bags you could bring a paper bag from your own home and buy plastic straws.

My Name is Rosa Parkes.  (Shahd Y5)

Hello, my name is Rosa parks. I was born on 4th of February 1913. I used to live on a farm with my family and I grew up in a city called Montgomery in America. When I grew up in my country there was a lot of racism going on and there were many laws like; we couldn't go in the same church, same toilets and that is just 2 of the laws!

One day I was coming back from work. I went on the bus when a white person came up to me he told me to move because the front of the bus which was the white side of the bus was full and one of the laws that I’ve saving to tell you now is a black person had to stand up if a white person couldn't find a seat.

Rosa Parkes, who was an important civil rights campaigner.

I was sick and tired because then the bus driver said he was going to call the police. The police came and arrested me because I broke the law. Forty thousand black people and a tad of white people thought I was doing the right thing.

Back To School By Mohammed (6W)

When it was time to return to school, my worries were about how we were going to be socially distanced and will anyone pass on the virus if they become sick inside of the school next to us?

Terrified, confused and shaking, I went to school. We were separated and socially distanced by having our own desks and having our own laptop to do our work on.

We have pouches for our pencils, pens, books, glues and books. We also had a one way system for our group when we were going to wash our hands.

The thing I like about school is that it is better than being bored at home, we get to meet up with our friends and it is calm (unlike my house).

Also we get toast YAYYYYY!

Oh yes, and we get EXTRA Playtime.

The story of Rosa Parks by Amira (Y5)

Hello my name is Rosa Parks, I was born 4th February 1913. I became well known for helping initiate the civil rights movement in the United States. This was done by protesting the “Montgomery bus boycott.”

It all started when I refused to give up my seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama bus in 1955.

I was arrested for refusing to give up my seat for a white man as this was classed as a “violation” of the city’s racial segregation laws which prompted me and other African Americas to protest and boycott all buses.

Our protests were successful and the segregation laws officially ended November 13th 1956.
