Literacy
Reading and sharing stories is a fabulous way for children to develop their vocabulary, understanding of the world and their imagination.
It also provides a special time with the adult/ older person reading with them.
In Nursery, we hope to nurture and develop a love of books that will continue throughout our children's lives and is a source of pleasure and as well as learning.
Initially children will explore early mark-making, which is a physical and sensory experience as they develop a secure pencil hold, and is an important pre-writing skill.
Before children can write letters and words,
they will need to develop their speaking and listening skills,
as they learn to write the words they say.
