LAWRENCE SPORTING LIFE

#WRITING FOR PURPOSE

Here at Lawrence we participate in many sports, from newer ones such as kinball and  dodgeball to more traditional ones such as cricket and football.  We compete in many competitions across the city. As part of our writing for purpose provision, we ask children participating in these to write a match report so that we can celebrate their enjoyment and successes.

UV  Handball with

LFC Foundation

Date: 5th March

Location : Anfield Sports Centre

Event: UV Handball

We entered a fun competition with LFC foundation and played against the following schools:

  • Whitefield
  • Kensington
  • Broadgreen
  • Blackmoor Park
  • St Anne Stanley

Our star player today was Lucy Abdul Kareem from 6W as she managed to score a massive 5 goals in total! Lucy encouraged each team player and worked very hard. The girl’s team all enjoyed playing UV Handball and the bright colours of the bibs and balls helped make the games exciting. After every match we did a “fist pump” with other team’s players to show respect. All the schools that were there were respectful towards each other all morning.

Favourite Moment: Leah saving a shot from Broagreen that looked a certain goal. What a save! Well done Leah.

Worst Moment: Losing to Whitefield Primary but their players were just too big and strong for us!

Croxteth vs Lawrence

Location : Croxteth Primary

Score: 0-4

This was a very tough match today against Croxteth. They had strong players who put in physical tackles against us. Croxteth were a very good team and deserved the result. We enjoyed the game and it was nice to visit a school that we have not been to before.

Although we lost, it was an enjoyable afternoon and it was nice to visit a school that we have not been to before.

Star Player: Amira Taher, who worked hard and showed great skills!

Best moment of the game: Great Save by Ionel! Croxteth player hit a shot top corner but Ionel tipped it over!

#WRITING FOR PURPOSE

We visited the Anfield sports centrefor the Kinball competition with the L.F.C Foundation. It doesn't matter if we come 1st place or not, the only thing that matters is if we have a good time and have fun! The main aim is to keep the Kinball in the air and not let it touch the ground. Someone has to hit it in the air but before they do that they need to shout the coloured team they are hitting it to.

We had lots of fun this morning working on communication and teamwork. We worked well as a team and enjoyed speaking with other schools.

We were extremely lucky today as we got to meet the Liverpool Under 18 academy squad. They helped us in the Kinball games.

Arya just did a through ball to Alan takes the shot but he misses. Adam is taking a free kisck in the opponent’s  half.  Arya injured a player. It is a free kick Alan takes but It misses the goal. Four Goals from Alan Khoshnaw helped us to a 12-0 win over Arnot St Mary’s.

Arya’s through on goal but its a corner ball for Lawrence. Alan just missed it, Lawrence on the counter.Goal kick for Ionel! A free kick for Adam.Arya on the wing was blocked by number 8. Counter for opposite team Wide. A cross from Alan but nothing from it. Corner bal , away from number 2. Florence Melly on the counter, blocked from vidhushan.Corner ball from Florence nothing from it.

Throw in Lawrence on the attack. oh no! Its a miss! Goal kick for Lionel leads to a goal for the other team. Corner for other team. Goal kick for Lionel on the attack lost  by Arya .Possession lost.

Omar went down the wing  and Ahmed has just fallen over the keeper. No one is in defence.Omar's best  chance  won the corner.

Omar headed it wide of the goal. Alan has just been fouled! Omar’s through and it’s kicked out for corner.
