Maths Time
Let's start today's Maths Time by singing one of our favourite counting songslaugh. Click on the video below.

Ten Little Dinosaurs

Super Singing!    Today, at Maths Time, we are going to the toy shoplaugh. Your challenge is to work out how much change you need from the shop keeper after you buy a toy. To do this, you will need your takeaway brains switched onwink. We have done the first one, to show you what to doyes.

The teddy bear costs 6p. We pay the shop keeper with a 10p coin, but the shop keeper needs to give us our change, as 10p is too muchsurprise. So, we need to take away the price of the bear (6p) from our 10p coin.
First, we draw 10 pennies (this is the same as a 10p coin) like this:

Next, we cross out 6 pennies (this is the amount the bear costs), like this:

Then, we count how many pennies are left, using our pointy finger -  "1, 2, 3, 4" so this means the shop keeper needs to give us 4p change.  The subtraction sum for this would be 10p - 6p = 4p

Now its your turnlaugh. Please complete this activity in your busy books, good luckyes.
