Join in with the counting song below, pointing to the number on each aeroplane as you sing.
Look at the activity sheet below.
Talk about the vehicles being the same or different.
What colour are the vehicles?
Can you count them with your child – they can touch each vehicle as they count. If they are unsure of the numbers, they can repeat them after you.
Challenge Counting the vehicles. Can your child count the vehicles and point to the correct number?
You can help them to do this. Which is the biggest group? Which is the smallest number?
Can your child write the numbers in their busy book or on a piece of paper?
Last week we were searching for circles. This week we will be looking at squares and rectangles.
Show your child the pictures below and talk about the shapes.
A square has 4 pointed corners and 4 straight sides all the same length.
A rectangle is a shape with four sides and four corners. The corners are all right angles. It follows that the pairs of sides opposite each other must be parallel and of the same length.
Look around your home to find squares or rectangles- what shape are your windows? doors? can you see a mobile phone? a TV? a picture on the wall? a fridge?
