Mini Maths

We will be playing and counting cars, looking at the quantities of each number:

  • when playing with 2 cars- children will understand that 1 and 1 more makes 2
  • when playing with 3 cars- children will understand that 1 and 1 and 1 more makes 3, that 2 and 1 more makes 3
  • when playing with 4 cars- children will understand that 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 more makes 4, that 2 cars and 2 more cars makes 4, that 3 and 1 more car makes 4

We will be looking at shapes: this week focussing on circles as we are talking about transport involving wheels.

Show your child the circle below and talk about the round, curved shape.

Look around your home to find circles- can you see a clock? a plate? the base of a cup? a pan lid?

This week we are going to practice writing numbers

Follow the example below and remember to take your time.

If your child finds pencil control activities difficult, then give them a bigger piece of paper to write on and focus on numbers 1  2  3.
