We will be making comparisons and doing lots of measuring in Nursery this week, comparing bigger/ smaller, full/ half full/ empty, longer/ shorter, heavier/ lighter.
This can be done in lots of ways, in day-to-day activities around your home:
- sorting washing- comparing Dad's socks/ trousers with child's socks/trousers
- compare a big toy to a small toy
- drinking milk/ juice- stating when cup is full and nearly empty, then empty
- filling and emptying different size plastic bottles/ lids in the bath (milk, shampoo, fabric conditioner bottles)
- lifting a bag of potatoes and compare with a bag of crisps
- comparing shoes of different people in your family
Singing number songs will help children to remember the order of number names when counting:
