Fun-day Focus

Make-it Monday

Today children will be a variety of pens, crayons, pencils as well as paper, card and empty boxes. Children can create a picture, a greeting card or a model of something they like and enjoy.

Taste-it Tuesday

As Goldilocks ate all the porridge in our story this week, children will be making and tasting porridge today. They will be learning that porridge is a healthy option for breakfast as it is good for your body.

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 40g rolled oats
  • 200g milk

Method:

Measure out the oats and milk into a microwave safe bowl

Stir, then cook on high in the microwave for 2 ½ minutes.

Remove from the microwave and stir again then place back in the microwave.

Continue to cook at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the porridge is at your desired consistency.

Serve with chopped or sliced banana, jam, chocolate chips or golden syrup

Wiggle Wednesday

This will be the first 'Wiggle Wednesday' that we have all been together in Nursery for a while, so today we are going to revisit some of our favourite music and movement songs:

Exercise song for children / Fast and Slow Actions | Patty Shukla

Thrilling Thursday

Today's thrill will be a bunch of flowers! Talk to your child about why people like to give a bunch of flowers to someone they like. It might be to say 'Thank you!' for helping them or just to tell them that they love them. Talk about the colours and smells of flowers and which flowers you like best.

It's Mother's Day on Sunday and it's a time to celebrate that we have people in our lives who are special to us. You can help your child to make their special card for you or for any person they love!

Use A4 card if you have it, otherwise a stiff paper will be fine. You will need scissors and glue.

If you have any paper doilies, use one to make a triangular cone vase for the flowers. If you have no doilies, use coloured paper or foil. Then cut out lots of flowers of different coloured paper and glue them at the top or the vase.

You can ask your child what they would like to write inside. You can write the words and they can copy write their name. Show your child how to hold the pencil to make strong marks on the paper.

Funky Friday

Let's warm up with some actions on this Funky Friday!

Busy Feet 'It's Warm Up Time'

Now let's sing a song about the people we love! Our family!

The song is a 'Call and Response' song so it is easy for you and your child to repeat the short lines of the song to join in.

We Are A Family

Enjoy your weekend and spending time with the people you love on Mother's Day.
