This week we will be talking about Celebrations, especially Chinese New Year (Friday 12th) and Valentines Day (Sunday 14th).
We will also be talking about other family celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, Eid and Christmas.
Make-it Monday
Today we will be making paper dragon puppets in recognition of the dragon dance often seen in Chinese New Year celebrations.
(There are lots of video clips of this dance on YouTube).
See images below for ideas to make a paper dragon puppet:
Taste-it Tuesday
In celebration of Chinese New Year, the children will be making and tasting noodles in Nursery today.
Wiggle Wednesday
Moving to music is good fun and improves children's physical skills as they develop balance and coordination.
Listening to music from different cultures will support children's understanding that although children/ families throughout the world are very similar, loving and caring for each other, people enjoy different music and speak different languages.
Children might need an adult or older sibling to model the actions in the first song today.
Thrilling Thursday
Another celebration this week will be Valentines Day when we show how much we love somebody. Talk to your child about the ways we can show people that they are special.
Help your child to make a fingerprint heart card to give to somebody special.
Funky Friday
Today we will look at some Chinese celebrations in our own city of Liverpool! We will then have fun and do some dragon movements!
Happy Chinese New Year to you all!
Happy Valentines Day too!
